On Saturday 23 April the 2nd XV shone for one glorious day after a relatively quiet year. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, the team’s shirt sponsors, put on a 7s tournament at Iffley Road. Fuelled by hog roast and beer (they really are generous sponsors), the team was helmed by rookie captain David Shields to great success, beating Brasenose, St Peter’s, and Freshfields’ own team of menacing associates with an enterprising brand of
rugby to win the inaugural prize, and two bottles of Moët.
